Rise Up: A 30th Anniversary Concert
10 days to go!!!! The DYT rehearsal room has entered that fascinating phase where confidence and mild panic exist in perfect harmony. Much like watching
Ticket holders who followed the yellow brick road to “Wickedly Whimsical” at The Produce Hall in Stockport on 19th October, entered a world where things were not quite as they seemed and were in for a magical afternoon full of surprises.
The sold out event, helping raise funds for The Wellspring Christmas Dinner Appeal was billed as a family extravaganza. The impressive Victorian building had undergone a makeover Glinda would have been proud of with hints of pink and green, as well as decorations and props from the film.
The afternoon drew to a conclusion with a Wicked quiz. As the final quiz papers were collected, a fanfare sounded and guests were treated to a DYT flashmob where Do Your Thing choir members, posing as guests planted through out the building burst into song.
The audience members, many of whom were young primary aged girls and big fans of the film, were spellbound as more groups of unsuspecting guests around them suddenly stood up and started singing.
The real magic, though, was discovering that the bucket donations taken on the day raised £281.56 which equated to 57 Christmas dinners and a gift for vulnerable people in the Stockport community.
It may have been “One Short Day” but the voices in The Produce Hall certainly defied gravity, leaving an afternoon etched in the memories of those lucky enough to be there and something they will remember “For Good”.

We tend to sing the sort of feel-good songs that people love to sing along to on the radio. These are generally pop classics and can include songs from films and musicals.

Do Your Thing is a performance choir and has a variety of performance opportunities for choir members throughout the year. The highlight for most of our choir members is showcasing to an audience what the choir has enjoyed learning in rehearsal. They refer to the “buzz” they get after a gig that lasts for days.
